Markus Schulz presents Global DJ Broadcast

Back on dry land after the annual Groove Cruise, Markus Schulz's preparations turn to another signature open to close solo set experience at the legendary Avalon in Los Angeles this Saturday night. Part of those preparations involved his latest Global DJ Broadcast offering, which includes new music from Michael Cassette, PARAFRAM, ALAT, Kaiserdisco, Mike EFEX and more. In the second hour, he is joined by KhoMha for the guestmix, as he prepares to release his new single Tanha on Coldharbour from Friday.

Fans in Edmonton can also see Markus perform live at the Temple Ballroom this Friday night, before his return to Avalon on Saturday night into Sunday morning; which will be recorded and the highlights featured on the World Tour for you next week.

The annual Groove Cruise exploration from Miami to the Caribbean has arrived, and Markus Schulz will be heavily involved with a selection of sets throughout the duration. Prior to boarding, he checked in with a new edition of Global DJ Broadcast, and was in a position to world premiere his upcoming instrumental single piece, Enter the Portal. Markus was also joined by Coldharbour contributors ALAT for the guestmix, and included their own world premiere of their upcoming single, Lakes of the Dead.

In a season of surprises, the pivotal influence of the wonders of radio on Markus Schulz isn't one of them. The theater of the mind, the friend who is always there no matter what time of day or night. One particular aspect of radio which deeply resonates with Markus to this day is the period between Christmas and New Year, where classics and championed tracks dominated the airwaves. 

A few years after establishing his weekly Global DJ Broadcast radio show, a new tradition was born; where he would honor and cherish those special melodies and words through the Classics Showcase. This one in particular is extra special, as it marks the milestone 20th edition; meaning that there are now some 40 hours of Global DJ Broadcast Classics Showcase episodes created with the special one to one connection towards the listener in mind. The final World Tour offering of 2024 sees Markus Schulz return to a city and venue he holds dear to his heart; continuing a tradition of welcoming Canadian Thanksgiving in the afterhours capital of the world, Stereo in Montreal. A weekend which began on the Saturday in Thailand, playing at the Transmission Festival in Bangkok, culminated in playing for over 12 hours from midnight past noon as Sunday night became Monday morning inside dance music's cathedral.

Throughout the Global DJ Broadcast calendar, Markus Schulz strives to go a step further by creating a selection fo specialist themed concept mixes; reflecting the broad palette of his sound. The newest of the seven themes is dedicated to the high tempo and uplifting feelings of trance, titled as Dream Sequence. Now in its fourth iteration, this particular concept returns to celebrate Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season.

The mix is based around a selection of uplifting favorites from the regular studio shows across the past 12 months, extracted from Coldharbour and beyond, with a nod to the future.

Dream Sequence 2024 is only one of several attractions on offer from Markus and Global DJ Broadcast before the year ends. December will see a new World Tour stop live from Stereo in Montreal, along with a two-week overview of 2024 through the annual Year in Review. Markus Schulz finds himself in Los Angeles this week, preparing for the home edition of Dreamstate, and checks in with what is the final regular Global DJ Broadcast episode of 2024. On the show, he previews his In Search of Sunrise remix of the legendary Who.Is track We.Are, along with upcoming Coldharbour material from Daxson, Mike EFEX and ALAT. He also includes music from Omnia, Cristoph and Deadmau5 among others. In the second hour, Coldharbour debutant Milkwish joins for the guestmix.

Fans in Southern California can catch Markus performing live at Dreamstate on Friday, and as well as the main show, he will also play at the official afterparty as Dakota. Then on Wednesday, it's the resumption of a Thanksgiving Eve tradition, playing Trancegiving at The Church nightclub in Denver. 

Next week will be the latest in Markus' themed collectors edition series, with the 2024 edition of Dream Sequence dedicated to uplifting trance.

Being German born, any show in the country for Markus Schulz feels like a homecoming of sorts. But the city of Berlin holds extra significance for him, as it has been his European base for many years while touring internationally; and has played a significant role in his musical influences and production. On Friday September 20 2024, Markus returned to Berlin for one of his signature open to close performances at The Cloud nightclub, and the highlights form the latest edition of the Global DJ Broadcast World Tour. 

The remaining World Tour recordings in 2024 are both high profile solo sets - firstly this Sunday, continuing a Canadian Thanksgiving tradition at Stereo in Montreal. And then the following Friday, October 18, Markus plays all night long at Melkweg for his annual Amsterdam Dance Event show. So if you are attending one of them, please bring your passion and voice for the world to hear.

The phrase In Search of Sunrise carries a deep resonance throughout the dance music community, and ever since its debut outing 25 years ago, in 1999, its purpose has been to emotionally inspire. Spearheaded by Tiesto for the first seven editions, and continued by Richard Durand from 8 through 13, the honor was bestowed upon Markus Schulz to be the primary curator of the series from the 14th volume onwards.

In September 2024, In Search of Sunrise not only celebrated its 25th anniversary, but also reached its milestone 20th edition. The most expansive volume in the series to date, featuring no less than six DJ mixes; by Markus, Solarstone, Airscape, Super8 & Tab, York and ZOYA.

Before setting off on a European doubleheader for the weekend, Markus Schulz resumed studio duties on Global DJ Broadcast for another week. On the show, he provides In Search of Sunrise 20 mix compilation showcases from York and ZOYA's entries, as well as showcasing new music from Hel:sløwed, Dan Stone, Paul van Dyk & The YellowHeads, Tim Clark and more. In the second hour, Markus is joined by Daxson for the guestmix, which will include the world premiere of his upcoming single, Intuition.

Markus will play a special open to close solo set this Friday at The Cloud in Berlin, Germany; before setting off to Nottingham for the Trancecoda meets Groovebox event on Saturday.

Once every month, Markus Schulz migrates from the studio and brings a flavor of his recent liveset experiences to the Global DJ Broadcast listeners. Throughout his career, the city of Angeles, and specifically Avalon nightclub in Hollywood, holds a major resonance and significance in his career. Along with over 10 New Year's Eve performances at the venue, a recent tradition has also included an open to close solo set throughout the summer months. After a summer stay in Europe, Markus Schulz headed back home to Miami this week to begin preparations for the remainder of 2024, and the first port of call was a studio session for Global DJ Broadcast. His Club Mix of Till We Fade, featuring Emma Hewitt, has been an exclusive in his livesets throughout 2024, and will be released as a full single this Friday. It's included in the show, as well as a pair of In Search of Sunrise 20 compilation showcases from Airscape and Super8 & Tab; along with new singles from Cosmic Gate, BLR, Layton Giordani and ALAT. Among the busy stretch of dance music festivals in Europe taking place in the summer, Romania's Untold Festival has grown to become one of its highlights. Markus Schulz has been privileged to play the festival on many occasions, and for the first time, it is featured as part of his Global DJ Broadcast World Tour series; with Markus playing on the Fortune stage last Sunday night.

Beginning summer with the emotional journey of the Sunrise Set, the midpoint is traditionally highlighted by our annual Coldharbour Day celebrations. It's a small way for our Coldharbour family to say thanks to everyone who supports the label, and those responsible for creating the tracks we cherish.

This tradition is another passion project for me, with a four hour journey made especially for the occasion; constructed among travels across three continents. It's a continual weave of current favorites, a few nods to the future, and opening up the Coldharbour archives; with the thrill of reliving, and sometimes even rediscovering beautiful melodies we may have forgotten.

Ahead of a return to the Sunrise Festival in Poland, Markus Schulz checks in with another studio edition of Global DJ Broadcast. On the show, he provides a preview of his upcoming single, Summer of '99, which was featured on In Search of Sunrise 19 and the 2024 Sunrise Set and receives a full release on Friday July 26. 

The show also features a memorial tribute to the sad passing of Tomcraft. Sean Tyas provides the guestmix in the second hour, as he celebrates the release of his debut original single on Coldharbour with JSKA, Don't Let Me Go.

After the annual Sunrise Set and the World Tour from the Luminosity Beach Festival, Markus Schulz checks in from Thailand for a fresh 2 hour studio session on Global DJ Broadcast. The last weekend of June plays host to one of dance music's most special events, as fans across Europe and the wider world descend upon Zandvoort, the Netherlands, for a special four day long Luminosity Beach Festival. Capturing a magical atmosphere of thousands partying by the beach, it's no wonder it has become one of Markus Schulz's favorite events to play.
