Table Topics Podcast delves into the panoply of stories posted online to find those related to the hobby of tabletop gaming and gaming in general. Host Kalee Holdren retrieves stories from Reddit to share, with a rotation of guests who react and give feedback. Episodes look at specific scenarios, relationships, or types of games, and present advice and empathy to the posters or other characters in the chosen stories. Occasionally there’s a harsher rebuke - but all in the pursuit of better times with friends and better gaming. And honestly, sometimes you must speak truth when someone asks - AITA? Listeners will be guided across the ups and downs of games, deserved victories and crushing defeats, outbursts that may be or may not be about the game in question. The hosts approach the situations presented with humor and honesty, and invite listeners to send in stories they find, submit their own, or participate in the discussion on our social media and Discord.

nana, which was later reprinted as Trio, is a card game in which players are looking for three of a kind.
The deck consists of 36 cards, numbered 1-12 three times. Players receive some cards in hand, which they are required to sort from low to high, and the remaining cards are placed face down on the table.
On your turn, choose any single card to reveal, either the low or high card from a player's hand (including your own) or any face-down card from the table. Then, do this again. Should the two cards show the same number, continue your turn; if they do not, return the cards to where they came from and end your turn.
If you reveal three cards showing the same number, take these cards as a set in front of you. If you are the first player to collect three sets, you win — except that a player wins immediately if they collect the set of 7s or two sets that add or subtract to 7, e.g., 4s and 11s.
Note that nana and Trio contain identical components, but nana is labeled for 2-5 players, while Trio is labeled for 3-6 players. Trio has slight changes to the rules, with players using all cards no matter the player count. Additionally, you play in normal mode — winning

You are the head of a respected but troubled family estate in mid-19th century Victorian England. After several lean decades, family fortunes are looking up! Your goal is to improve your estate so as to be in better standing with the truly influential families in Derbyshire.
Obsession is a game of 16 to 20 turns in which players build a deck of Victorian gentry (British social upper class), renovate their estate by acquiring building tiles from a centralized builders' market, and manipulate an extensive service staff of butlers, housekeepers, underbutlers, maids, valets, and footmen utilizing a novel worker placement mechanic. Successfully hosting prestigious social activities such as Fox Hunts, Music Recitals, Billiards, Political Debates, and Grand Balls increases a player's wealth, reputation, and connections among the elite.

What hue do you think of when we say “apple”? Hues and Cues is a vibrant game of colorful communication where players are challenged to make connections to colors with words. Using only one and two-word cues, players try to get others to guess a specific hue from the 480 colors on the game board. The closer the guesses are to the target, the more points you earn. Since everyone imagines colors differently, connecting colors and clues has never been this much fun!
Gather around with three to ten people to play a quick and simple game with a prism of possibilities! First, a “cue giver” hides a specific color they’ve chosen out of a deck of cards. There are 480 shades on the board in front of you! After getting one- and two-word cues, everyone places their marker on which color they think is being described. “Coffee.” Is it dark brown, as in freshly brewed? “Au lait.” With milk. That means I should pick a lighter shade!
Use examples from everyday life, from nature to pop culture, or materials and moods. Everyone around the table gets a turn to give cues and guess. The better your hints or guesses, the more points you earn. Play off others' experiences to narrow down what they have in mind!

You've joined a hot air balloon festival in which the goal is to go higher than your opponents. Dump as many sandbags as you can — and try to gain rockets as well! — to send yourself higher and higher to win.
Sandbag is a trick-taking game of avoiding tricks, manipulating trump, and reconfiguring your hand of cards. In each of the three rounds, you configure your basket with two face-up cards; the most common color among all players' cards is the trump suit. Each trick, players either play from their hand, play a sandbag (to sluff, that is avoid winning the trick), or play one of their opponents' face-up cards. During the round, it's possible for the trump to change as the number and kind of face-up cards are exchanged for face-down sandbags. Five rocket cards worth negative points are in play each round, and you want to win these while avoiding the sandbag cards because in the end the player with the lowest score wins.
Sandbag is a highly interactive trick-taking game for 3-6 players that excels at higher player counts!

Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and many other legendary princesses are celebrating a five-day party. The Prince Charmings, who have not been invited, will try to infiltrate the ball to propose marriage to the girls. As a princess, you have to avoid marriage proposals and remain single and independent after the celebrations.

The latest edition of the Seers Catalog has everything you need for stopping werewolves. Can you limit yourself to the essentials in time to save the village?
Seers Catalog is an almost-shedding card game in which each player tries to get rid of almost all of the cards in their hand. Each round, players have a unique set of artifacts that give them asymmetric abilities to help manage their hand of cards. When one player runs out of cards, the round is scored: Each card is worth -1, but if you have five or fewer cards in your hand, the lowest value on those cards is worth positive points! However, once you have five or fewer cards, you can no longer voluntarily pass, so holding on to a high-value card near the end of the round hoping for a big payout can result in total failure.
Next on the list of our week of Bezier card game reviews is the deductive trick tacking game, Xylotar! Jared sits down at the featured table to take a look.

In the card game Xylotar, you’ve found the long lost xylotar schematics from the instrument originally designed by Bobby McColdsnap and Keifer Basset. This unique musical device was based on both xylophone and synthesizer technology in the mid 80's. and was created as an alternative to the keytars of the era.
Without knowing exactly how it should work, play until you discover the sweetest sounds. The player who scores the most points has found the perfect balance of 80’s synthesizer rock and modern carimba-style melodies. Only then can you mass produce the xylotar, succeeding in your goal of achieving moderate commercial success!
In this trick-taking game players know only the colors of their cards and their relative order. Use deduction and observation to figure out the value of your cards, then bid to try to gain extra points.

Age of Comics: The Golden Years Age of Comics: The Golden Years is a worker placement management game in which players will run a publishing company during the golden age of comics (1938-54).
In each round the players, in turn, must position 4 meeples (workers called editors). They can choose 4 out of 6 spaces, called publishing tasks. There are 6 publishing tasks in total that can be performed in any order and lead to 6 specific player actions: hire, develop, ideas, print, sales, and royalties. The game lasts 5 rounds. The objective of the game is to accumulate the highest number of fans, make money by publishing comics and create the best portfolio of comic books. There are three main ways to accumulate fans:
Throughout the game, a fan chart will track the number of fans accumulated by the comics and will award victory points based on the players’ rankin

Anna and Jared discuss the rock'em sock'em robot battling deck builder, Robot Quest Arena by White Wizard Games. Do you remember the 90s? Late nights on Comedy Central watching really intelligent nerds who built murderous machines to battle it out against each other all in the names of Fame and Glory!?! Maybe you watched a great movie like Real Steel with Hugh Jackman and have always dreamed of battling it out against another robot. Regardless of how you got here, let's sit down at the table and discuss Robot Quest Arena.
Robot Quest Arena is a 2-4 player deckbuilding battle arena board game. You’ll pilot battle bots, powered by various cards that you play on your turn from your deck. Batteries grant energy for movement, weapon activation, and/or purchasing new cards for your deck. Weapons act as...well... weapons. Function cards are your wild card customization of your bot to gain the advantage. As you navigate the arena’s obstacles, blast and smash opponents, and lay traps, tension at the table reaches an all time high. Destroyed bots respawn each round, ensuring non-stop action! In the end, it's not about how many bots you kill, but the full measure of destruction and mayhem that you caused along the way!

Ian joins the Two Top table as he and Jared dive deep into the intricacies of the time-traveling, murder-filled game, That Time You Killed Me. This week, the theme continues to be a focal point as we explore how such an asymmetric game can take us on a thrilling journey through the story of two individuals locked in a deadly duel to claim the title of the rightful inventor of time travel.
As we unravel the layers of this complex narrative, we delve into the mechanics that make this game stand out. The unique blend of strategy and storytelling keeps players on their toes, constantly questioning their next move. Each decision could alter the course of history, making every playthrough a unique experience.
Will this game navigate the intricate layers of its plot and succeed in capturing our interest? Or will it fade into obscurity, a forgotten relic of the past? Join us as we dissect the gameplay, the narrative twists, and the overall experience to determine if That Time You Killed Me is a timeless classic or a fleeting moment in the vast timeline of board games.
Tune in to find out our verdict and see if this game has what it takes to stand the test of time!

THEME! RANDOMNESS! These two concepts collide in an epic battle of control over the fun that's had at the table. Ian and Jared sit down at the Featured Table to discuss the Star Wars wild west fame claiming game, Star Wars: Outer Rim.
Star Wars: Outer Rim immerses players in the gritty, lawless edges of the Star Wars galaxy. Players take on the roles of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers, navigating the Outer Rim in search of fame and fortune. But don't be fooled into thinking this is all fun and games. After all, you are dealing with the Scum & Villainy of the universe! Players will need to make tough decisions about which bounties to pursue, which factions to align themselves with, which paths to take, and above all else, what ship to fly. Will you work your way up to buying the Millenium Falcon? Maybe you raid Lando's closet and collect his precious cloak collection? Or you could upgrade your armory and be the most feared in all the galaxy? All of these choices and more lay at your fingertips. But does this game live up to the vastness of the Star Wars Universe? Or does it crumble under the weight of randomness in disappointing dice rolls, card flips, and other elements that are just out of reach of player control? Find out as we discuss!

It's that time again. You are standing in line, waiting your turn to have your goods processed by the sheriff. You've got your story, prepped your poker face, and have taken several deep breaths to stay calm. You look in your bag and amongst your bread you see the hidden crossbow you are attempting to smuggle in. You think to yourself, "Is it worth it?" Find out along with our thoughts on Sheriff of Nottingham.
