1999: The Year That Rocked Cinema
This week, we head out of Andy's room and on an adventure to rescue Woody from Al's Toy Barn in Disney/Pixar's groundbreaking Toy Story 2! We talk about the high pressure surrounding the making of the movie (including how it almost got completely deleted), how the film was almost a straight-to-VHS release before it was even made, and how it changed Pixar and computer animation for the better.
Next week: we dive headfirst into another groundbreaking film: The Wachowskis' The Matrix. The film is available to stream on Netflix, or you can rent it online wherever you rent your films.
Finally, the Black Lives Matter movement is raising awareness of the issues of systemic racism, police brutality, and injustice that has plagued the United States for hundreds of years. We ask that you click on the following link, which will take you to a master-list of petitions that you can sign, organizations that you can donate to, and a number of articles, books, podcasts and films that you can check out to help further educate yourself on the movement that is occurring right now.
