Day 18 The Clock that Ran Slow

 DAY 18 — THE CLOCK THAT RAN SLOW

A woman hung a beautiful antique clock in her living room.
But she soon discovered
the clock always ran a few minutes slow.

She tried adjusting it again and again,
but every day it lagged behind
while the rest of the world kept pace.

Frustrated, she said,
“This clock is never on time.”

Her grandfather, observing quietly, replied,
“Or perhaps this clock keeps time
slow enough for you to notice life.”

She looked again—
and suddenly the slow ticking felt peaceful rather than flawed.

We often feel impatient with God:
“Why is this taking so long?”
“Why hasn’t He answered?”
“Why am I still waiting?”

But perhaps God’s timing
is intentionally slower
than your expectations.

Slow enough for you to mature.
Slow enough for you to heal.
Slow enough for you to notice
what hurried living misses.

Lent invites us into slow time—
the sacred rhythm of silence,
reflection,
patience,
waiting.

God is not late.
You are early.
