Day 20 The Closed Umbrella

DAY 20 — THE CLOSED UMBRELLA

A man walked through a sudden rainstorm
holding his umbrella tightly—
but he never opened it.

He arrived home drenched, annoyed, and shivering.
His wife stared at him and asked,
“Why didn’t you open the umbrella?”

He replied honestly,
“I don’t know…
I guess I was too busy fighting the rain
to remember what I was carrying.”

She handed him a towel and said,
“You had protection the whole time—
you just didn’t use it.”

Many of us walk through life
fighting storms while forgetting
the spiritual umbrella God has given us:
His grace,
His presence,
His strength,
His mercy,
His Word.

We try to survive on our own effort
instead of opening the gift
already in our hands.

Lent invites you to stop resisting grace
and start receiving it.
You don’t need to fight the rain—
you need to open the umbrella.

God’s help is not something you must earn—
it is something you must accept.
