DAY 27 — THE CRACKED PHONE SCREEN
A man with a badly cracked phone screen
showed his friend a photo.
The friend squinted and said,
“It looks blurry.”
The man laughed.
“That’s because of my screen, not the picture.”
Later, the friend reflected:
“I wonder how many people
I misjudge
because I’m looking at them
through my own cracks.”
Lent invites brutal honesty:
We don’t see people as they are—
we see them through the cracks of our own wounds:
insecurities,
past traumas,
prejudices,
unmet needs.
Judgment often reveals
more about the judge
than the one being judged.
Before you critique another,
God asks:
“Is the picture blurry…
or is your screen cracked?”
Mercy cleans your lens.
It heals your perception.
It allows you to see others
as God sees them.
