"Her" - 2. Movie Night at the Renovatio Movie Retreat with David Hoffmeister
Join David Hoffmeister on this second-day residential movie retreat in Utah! This intimate, in-person retreat is for those who desire to go deeper with the teachings of A Course in Miracles, using movies as the primary tool.
Through prayer, David is “Given,” the perfect movie from Spirit that best meets our present healing needs and themes. Today's movie is "Her."
Theodore, a lonely writer, purchases a newly developed operating system designed to meet the user's needs. To Theodore's surprise, a romantic relationship develops between him and his operating system. This unconventional love story blends science fiction and romance in a sweet tale that explores the nature of love and how technology isolates and connects us all.
The thing about the ego is that it did it as a cloaking device when it made and projected this world. It did it as a distraction. It did it as a substitute reality, a substitute for love. So it had to make it pretty exciting and intriguing. But a death wish can never be amazing or impressive. Christ and God are impressive. Ultimately, you can't have an impressive illusion because the meaning of illusion is nothing. So even the word vast illusion is still pretending it's not tiny. But It's just plain zero. Zero + Zero + Zero is Zero. And that's what we're going for.
We're going for an experience where we don't have to react to it or respond to it, positively or negatively, because it is nothing but to realize that nothingness is really what the mind training is about. To look calmly and quiet upon any appearance and be courageous and invulnerable, saying you can't fool me now. I'm not going to be fooled. That is what this is about.
