This month’s episode comes from a recording from Dimensions Festival last year, where I am lucky enough to be invited to host a series of live talks on site. You’ll find me back at the festival this year hosting talks at The Haze stage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so please come say hello! Last year it was our deep pleasure to host a UK icon, the inimitable DJ and producer Grace Sands. What follows is a recording of our live conversation, made possible by our friends at The Mudd Show. BREAKTHROUGH is an interview project I’ve been working on for the past four years, and speaking with artists about the seminal records they’ve made, from idea to production to release, and all the changes that come along with your first success. It’s been a very wild ride. The book’s final form features 20 interviews and clocks in at nearly 300 pages; I see it as a tool for musicians and artists of all kinds, but for me its also a meditation on the creative act and a refuge for makers when things get tough.
