Often when creating new policies or legislation about mental health care and treatment, one group is left out of the conversation: people with mental illnesses. A new book seeks to spotlight the people working to change that. Fredrick E. Vars, a professor at the University of Alabama School of Law, discusses his book Through the Fire: How People with Mental Illness Are Empowering Each Other.
