Jaws (1975) was the runaway, over-budget production that made Spielberg's name and the summer blockbuster along with it. Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss head the cast, the open-ocean shoot tested everyone's patience, and John Williams turned two notes into pure dread. The direction, the writing, that improvised line and the Indianapolis speech all get their due, and then it's three scores out of 10 from John, Westy and Matt. Does the original blockbuster still need a bigger boat?
