Edward F. Malkowski argues that dynastic Egypt inherited knowledge, monuments and religious ideas from a technically advanced prehistoric culture he calls “Civilization X.”

His case centres on several connected claims: that parts of the Giza complex may be far older than conventional Egyptology allows; that Egyptian stonework displays engineering methods not adequately explained by accepted reconstructions; that the Sphinx may preserve evidence of severe ancient water erosion; and that Egyptian traditions concerning the First Time, or Zep Tepi, contain memories of a civilisation existing before the recognised pharaohs.

The date 39,000 BCE is largely tied to Malkowski’s interpretation of the Dendera zodiac and astronomical precession. He treats certain celestial arrangements as encoded dates rather than merely religious imagery.
