But almost nobody asks the question that makes it make sense: why were they finally ready? Because the whole Old Testament is the story of God moving toward his people and his people not being able to receive him. Sinai. The wilderness. The king. The temple. The incarnation. Every time God moved close, something in them couldn't handle it. Then the cross happened. And fifty days later the fire that stayed on the mountain at Sinai came down and landed on the people themselves. This video is about what changed, why it changed, and why Pentecost is not the beginning of a new religion. It's the end of a very long story.
