Holden Caulfield, the fictional narrator of J.D. Salinger’s Catcher in the Rye, comes to life to explain exactly why Mark David Chapman’s plan didn’t work – and exactly why Mark David Chapman is himself one of the greatest phonies of all time. Holden also imagines what the 1980s would have been like with John Lennon alive and well, making more music and marching in more rallies.
