Griffon Corp.'s shares are headed for their biggest one-day advance in five years in response to a takeover and potential asset sale. The maker of Clopay garage doors will expand its home-product business by buying storage-product maker Closet-Maid from Emerson Electric Co. for $260 million. Griffon said it was approached by prospective buyers of its Clopay Plastic Products unit, a maker of plastic films used in disposable diapers and other items, and is considering alternatives.
