A Court of Wings and Ruin: Chapters 11 & 12

57 min • 21 februari 2023

Welcome to our 21-part deep-dive literary analysis of Sarah J. Maas’s bestselling romantasy novel, A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOWAR). In this episode, we cover chapters 11 and 12, as Feyre and Lucien flee the Spring Court and find themselves hunted across the beautiful and brutal terrain of the Autumn Court.

With 13 years of combined academic literary experience and two rotating literary lenses, best friends Jac and Amy analyze how Sarah J. Maas blends survival narrative, fractured alliances, and shifting emotional power to reveal the tension at the heart of Feyre and Lucien’s uneasy partnership. As trust is tested and danger closes in, we ask: What does loyalty mean when your life, and your court’s future, hang in the balance?

If you’re joining us mid-series, we recommend checking out our full literary analyses of A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) and A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOMAF) to follow Feyre’s full arc from mortal to High Lady.

Chapter Description:
As they flee the Spring Court, Lucien and Feyre find themselves in enemy territory. Though the Autumn Court’s beauty rivals Velaris, Feyre and Lucien are threatened at every turn by a lack of food, shelter, and safety. When Lucien’s brothers track the duo, Feyre and Lucien do all they can to escape, disturbing what little trust the two have developed in their desperation to survive their journey to the Night Court.
