A Court of Wings and Ruin: Chapters 41 - 43

68 min • 25 april 2023

Welcome to our 21-part deep-dive literary analysis of Sarah J. Maas’s bestselling romantasy novel, A Court of Wings and Ruin (ACOWAR). In this episode, we cover chapters 41 through 43, as preparations for the High Lords meeting escalate and tensions rise between courts, sisters, and lovers alike.

With 13 years of combined academic literary experience and two distinct literary lenses, best friends Jac and Amy explore how Sarah J. Maas uses political theatre, character agency, and evolving power structures to heighten the emotional and diplomatic tension at the heart of the series. As Nesta steps into a new role and Feyre steps into a room meant to keep her out, we ask: What kind of power is most dangerous, silent defiance, or declared authority?

For the full arc of Feyre’s transformation, from mortal girl to High Lady standing among kings, be sure to explore our A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) and A Court of Mist and Fury (ACOMAF) deep dives.

Chapter Description:
In the wake of the Hybern attack on the Summer Court, the meeting of the High Lords is moved up, and with it come increased anxieties among the Inner Circle. Despite her previous declinations, Nesta chooses to join the Inner Circle members who will attend the meeting as a newly minted emissary to the human lands. But will her High Fae appearance be enough to convince the High Lords to unite, or will Feyre’s High Lady status cause more tension between the tenuous alliances?
