Episode 627: Resident Evil (2026), The Uprising, The History of Concrete, Movie News LIVE!

What a weird week! But we're here for all of it, for you, at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode.

• RESIDENT EVIL (2026). A "Resident Evil" movie that's actually good? Zach Cregger has done the impossible. You don't need to have seen any of the previous films, or played the video game, to have a blast here. This horror movie is insane and hilarious. You'll scream, you'll squirm. Austin Abrams stars as a medical courier having a very bad day. In theaters.

• THE UPRISING. We're catching up with this action epic from writer-director Paul Greengrass, which came out last week. Andrew Garfield stars as a man known only as the Ploughman, who leads the peasants' revolt of 1381 against England's King Richard II. Co-starring Thomasin McKenzie, Jamie Bell and Cosmo Jarvis. In theaters.

• THE HISTORY OF CONCRETE. If you enjoyed the HBO series "How To With John Wilson," you'll love this feature debut, which feels like an extended version of his low-key comedy in all the best ways. Wilson does indeed explore the history of concrete in his beloved New York City, but ties in numerous other ideas, themes and oddball characters in the process. We loved it.
