May 20th: Why Didn’t They Wash Their Hands? Jesus Answers in Matthew 15:2 | Devotional for Kids | Carpooling with Jesus

Today on Carpooling with Jesus, we unpack a moment when the religious leaders got upset with Jesus’ friends for not following a tradition. They asked:
👉 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders?” (Matthew 15:2 CSB)

Jesus’ answer? It’s not about looking holy—it’s about having a heart that’s close to God.

In this episode, kids will learn:

• What traditions are and how they can help—or hurt

• Why Jesus quoted Isaiah to talk about hearts vs. habits

• How doing the right thing starts on the inside

💡 One Thing for the Ride:
What’s in your heart matters most to God.

🚘 Car Talk Question:
What’s something small I do that shows God what’s in my heart?
