Healthcare IT: Finding The EHR Roadmap

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has put health care organizations under pressure to adopt electronic medical record systems (EHR) by 2014, but many health organizations are nowhere near ready to convert their existing systems to an EHR system. What are the challenges to this goal, and are there any ways to fast track the effort? Once all hospitals have an EHR system, will the advantages they provide also improve patient healthcare and delivery?
