LESSONS ON FAITH FROM A 9 YEAR OLD: We had a rough day over here. I'm sure it's never happened in your house but my kids were fighting all day and having a hard time listening. At some point during the day as a consequence for some choices, they were told that I couldn't sit with them in their room while they fell asleep. Well, as unluck would have it, about 3 minutes before bed, Michael started talking about a movie that they saw about 3 minutes of which terrified Millie to the core. So now, right as she was supposed to go to sleep (without me in the room mind you) she is scared and whimpering in her room. Feeling bad, but resolute to be consistent with my consequence, I called to her to ask why she was scared. I gave her a hug, reminded her she was safe, told her to say a prayer and think about things that make her happy. It seemed to work...she went to sleep. Before bed I went into the kids room to feed their fish like I do every night. But tonight when I turned from the fish tank I saw Millie, asleep calmly on her bed with a picture of Jesus propped up right in front of her face. That sweet girl, in an effort to think happy things and not be afraid placed her focus on Jesus Christ! In our lives we will all experience times of fear and distress. But as we place the Savior squarely in our sights everything else will come into greater focus and we can experience peace! Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me
