Feb 17- Doctrine & Covenants 14:7

Verse 7 of section 14 contains a doctrine that it is vitally important for each of us to understand, it says that if we will obey the commandments and endure to the end we can obtain the gift of eternal life. Some people read that verse and think, "well which is it? Either we obtain eternal life because we were obedient and endured or eternal life was a gift that is given to us." I think it is vitally important that we understand that we obtain salvation and eternal life by grace. HOWEVER, we are still given commandments to obey. That is because Eternal life is about more than having our sins wiped clean, it is about who we become. And what we do determines who we are.
