Episode 336: Hymns and Scripture, Part Two--Here I Am, Lord

In their newest series for this summer, pastors Erica, Sarah, and Steve continue exploring hymns new and old for the ways that their poetry draws from the Scriptures, and how those hymns and songs of our faith help us to put in words what we sometimes struggle to express on our own.  In this episode, we look at the modern classic, "Here I Am, Lord," (also known as "I, the Lord of Sea and Sky") and the way it weaves together the ancient stories of prophets being called by God, from Isaiah and Jeremiah to Hannah, Samuel, and Moses.  As we look at how these biblical stories can become ways for expressing our own callings from God, we find new language for thinking about what God's calling in each of our lives might look like in the twenty-first century.  And we get a deeper awareness that God doesn't only call "pastors" or "deacons" or "bishops" or "elders," but all the followers of Jesus, in different ways and for different roles.  Check out the conversation here on this week's episode of Crazy Faith Talk!
