In McKinney, Texas, opening statements got underway in the murder trial of Karmelo Anthony, the teen accused of fatally stabbing fellow athlete Austin Metcalf at a Frisco track meet last year; prosecutors called it a sneak attack while the defense argued self-defense, and the trial begins with no Black jurors after the judge overruled a formal challenge from the defense. And in Portland, the man already charged with four murders across a hundred-mile stretch of the Pacific Northwest has now been charged with a fifth, bringing all five victims into the same case for the first time; Wednesday marked the first time all five families heard their daughters' names together in the same courtroom.
