In April 2011, 27-year-old real estate agent Ashley Okland was alone at an open house in West Des Moines, Iowa when someone walked in, shot her twice, and walked out. The case stayed cold for nearly 15 years. This spring, a grand jury indicted 53-year-old Kristin Ramsey — a longtime local who worked for the developer that built the townhome. Ramsey has pleaded not guilty. Last Friday, her attorneys filed a 44-page motion to dismiss, arguing the entire case rests on a single neighbor whose story kept changing over 15 years.
