Censorship and the Cuties Netflix Backlash

A new report shows just how far we have to go in media diversity, how the Free the Flag campaign is gaining more traction, and is Netflix promoting pedophilia? Welcome to this week’s episode of Culture Club. 

Musician, Ziggy Ramo appeared on ABC’s Q+A and questioned whether his presence was performative tokenism and a form of censorship. Majority of AFL clubs showed solidarity with the Free the Flag campaign, spearheaded by Clothing the Gap. Jasmine chatted with Clothing the Gap’s creative officer Sianna Catullo and managing director Laura Thompson back in June about how fashion can be a tool for Indigenous activism. 

We talk about the global uproar about Cuties, a film that is set to be released by Netflix. We read from this article by Caz Armstrong and this Guardian article by Caspar Salmon.
