In 2017, Kerem Albayrak threatened to delete 319 million iCloud accounts if Apple did not pay a ransom. In 2019, he pled guilty to blackmailing Apple, receiving a suspended jail sentence and was ordered to complete 300 hours of unpaid work for the attempted blackmail. The incident was later deemed to be part of a publicity stunt to promote a tool Albayrak was developing. This episode with Cybercrime Magazine host Heather Engel will be the first time Kerem is publicly discussing his side of the story; he has since gone on to work in cybersecurity. • For more on cybersecurity, visit us at https://cybersecurityventures.com
