Today in History: The manna began to fall from heaven on this day (according to tradition, see Exodus 16:1–4). Lag Ba'Omer is a minor Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Omer counting. Celebrations famously include lighting bonfires in the

evening. The bonfires symbolize both Israel's fighting spirit and

the light of Torah teaching.
