Today in History: The manna began to fall from heaven on this day (according to tradition, see Exodus 16:1–4). Lag Ba'Omer is a minor Jewish holiday celebrated on the 33rd day of the Omer-

counting. Celebrations famously include lighting bonfires in the evening. The bonfires symbolize both Israel's fighting spirit and the light of Torah teaching.
