Wednesday 1 April - 14 Nisan | Ta’anit Bechorot (Fast of the Firstborn) | Passover Eve

Today in History: Messiah was condemned to death, killed on a cross, and buried in a tomb (see Matthew 26:57–27:61). In memory of the day, we read Mark 15. The Passover lambs were also slaughtered in the Holy Temple in the afternoon (see Exodus 12:6; Deuteronomy 16:6).

Ta’anit Bechorot (Fast of the Firstborn) is a unique fast day on the Jewish calendar. Only firstborn Jewish men fast in memory and gratitude for being saved from the Plague of the Firstborn in Egypt (see Exodus 12:29).

This week's portion is called Pesach (Passover)
