Hearty Shephards Pie

Today we're making a classic dish, perfect for any occasion. Our hearty shepherd's pie is a delicious combination of ground beef, vegetables, and mashed potatoes that's sure to satisfy your taste buds.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (450 g)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth (240 ml)
  • 1 cup frozen peas (150 g)
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (800 g)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the onion, carrots, and garlic to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce, and cook for another minute.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Add the frozen peas and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the beef mixture in the skillet.
  9. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are lightly browned.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
