The Perfect Chocolate Cake

Welcome to our podcast where we will be sharing with you a delicious and decadent chocolate cake recipe that is perfect for any occasion. Follow along with us and pause as needed to create a cake that is sure to impress your friends and family.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans with butter or cooking spray.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.

  4. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients while mixing on low speed with a hand mixer until well combined. Scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.

  5. Gradually pour in the boiling water while mixing on low speed until the batter is smooth and thin.

  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

  7. Remove the cake pans from the oven and allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, carefully remove the cakes from the pans and place them onto a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Once the cakes have cooled, place one of the cakes onto a cake stand or serving plate. Spread a layer of your favorite frosting over the top of the cake, then place the second cake on top of the frosting. Spread another layer of frosting over the top and sides of the cake.

  9. Decorate the cake with your favorite toppings such as fresh berries, chocolate shavings, or sprinkles.
