Hosts Berly and LA celebrate being officially halfway through Season 1! Berly opens with Twitter discoveries: there are SAM GIRLS and DEAN GIRLS who fight each other (the hosts are Team Both), Wincest shippers exist (oh no), and the blood splooge count is disappointingly low at ONE. She also admits to starting the official "Supernatural Then and Now" podcast but stopped after they made the same "dingo ate my baby" joke. LA was unpleased... THAT'S HER JOKE, DAMMIT.

The episode starts with Dean getting WRECKED by 100,000 volts while fighting a rawhead (a basement-dwelling child-eating monster). He should've worn rubber boots because standing in water + tasering a monster = massive heart attack. The doctor gives Dean maybe two weeks to live, and Dean just... accepts it? This man is terrified of planes and going home, but facing death? Totally chill. Sam is NOT having it and drags Dean to a faith healer in Nebraska.

Enter Roy LeGrange (great ZZ Top name) and his tent revival. Dean makes a snarky comment about wallets, the BLIND preacher hears him (sharp senses, Dean!), and chooses to heal him anyway. Dean sees a creepy prune-faced man in black behind Roy, passes out, and wakes up HEALED. But something's wrong—a swimmer dies of a heart attack at the exact same time.

Episode Highlights:

• Sam being the CUTEST trying to help Dean walk and Dean being like "GET OFF ME"
• Dean: "I'd still hit it"
• Sue Ann being hilariously bad at hiding evidence (turns necklace around to SHOW the symbol, then hides it)
• The excessive dust in the office that looked like sawdust
• Sam making the cheesiest proud face when he calls Layla so Dean can say goodbye
• The Reaper's eye effects were COOL (white/green film over the eyes)
• Team Layla all the way (she has a brain tumor and still got screwed over)

The boys discover it's not Roy—it's his WIFE Sue Ann controlling a Reaper with black magic! She's been targeting people she deems "sinful" (LGBTQ+ folks, pro-choice people, protesters) and trading their lives for the sick. Roy has NO IDEA his wife is using him. So sad. Sam destroys the altar, the Reaper gets free, kills Sue Ann with a stroke, but sadly Layla doesn't get healed. Dean tells her he's "not the praying type" but he'll pray for her (SO SWEET).

The hosts discuss Grim Reaper lore from the article on How Stuff Works, learning about Thanatos (pleasant Greek death god), Valkyries (choosers of the slain), and how the plague created our modern scary skeleton version. The scythe is a mowing tool for harvesting souls!
