The Haunted Prison That Held the Real Peaky Blinders

Steelhouse Lane Lockup in Birmingham served as a police custody building for over a century, imprisoning criminals like the real Peaky Blinders gang members awaiting their court date, and the justice that followed.

But even before it closed in 2016 and subsequently reopened as a museum for West Midlands Police, people have seen strange things that they couldn’t explain, and heard noises echoing where they shouldn’t. At Steelhouse Lane, it’s almost as if there’s still someone keeping watch on the long-gone prisoners…
