Italy's Electric Car Incentives Exhausted in Hours

The latest round of government incentives for electric vehicles in Italy was exhausted with remarkable speed, an event widely described as a "click day." Within approximately six hours of the booking platform's launch, the entire fund, valued at over 480 million euros, was depleted. The platform, managed by Sogei, the IT company of the Ministry of Economy, successfully issued over 40,000 vouchers for zero-emission cars and commercial vehicles. These vouchers, offering discounts of up to 11,000 euros, are believed to have been claimed predominantly by private customers. A critical condition stipulates that each voucher must be converted into a formal vehicle purchase contract within 30 days. Any vouchers not converted within this period will automatically expire, and the associated funds will be returned to the incentive pool, creating a potential second opportunity for prospective buyers.
