Norway's Electric Sales Record: Near 100% Saturation

A source examining the Norwegian automotive industry highlights that new electric vehicle sales reached an unprecedented peak in November 2025, constituting nearly 100% of all passenger car registrations for the month. Out of nearly 20,000 total vehicles registered, electric cars accounted for 97.6% of the volume, pushing gasoline, diesel, and hybrid registrations to marginal levels. Tesla maintained its dominance in the market with the largest share of sales for the month and year-to-date, followed by Volkswagen. This spike in EV adoption occurred during a period that saw overall registration numbers more than double compared to the previous year. Experts suggest that this accelerated consumer activity was driven by economic recovery and the expectation that buyers were rushing to purchase new vehicles before proposed changes to the national VAT structure took effect in 2026.
