Renault: Free Patent for Electric Vehicle Fire Safety System

Renault has developed Fireman Access, a fire safety system for electric vehicles that drastically reduces the time and water needed to extinguish fires. Already implemented in the Group's electric and plug-in hybrid models, the system allows battery fires to be extinguished in just a few minutes, using ten times less water. Renault has made the Fireman Access patent available for free to accelerate the adoption of more effective safety measures in the automotive industry.
