The 2026 Nissan Micra is the all-new, all-electric generation of Nissan's iconic small car, positioned as a "fresh breeze" in the segment. Built on the AmpR Small platform shared with the Renault 5, it transitions from a traditional internal combustion engine vehicle to a dedicated electric hatchback.
The Micra features a "friendly face" with rounded LED headlamps that perform a "welcome wink" sequence when unlocked. It measures approximately 3.97 meters (156 inches) in length and comes equipped with 18-inch wheels. To allow for personalization, Nissan offers 14 exterior color combinations, including two-tone options with black or grey roofs.
The vehicle is available with two battery and motor configurations:
- Standard Range: A 40 kWh battery providing a WLTP range of approximately 192 miles (317 km) and 121 horsepower.
- Comfort Range: A 52 kWh battery offering a range of up to 260 miles (416 km) and 148 horsepower.
Performance-wise, the 148 hp version achieves 0-62 mph in 8 seconds, while the 121 hp version takes 9 seconds. DC fast charging allows both versions to charge from 15% to 80% in about 30 minutes, with the larger battery supporting speeds up to 100 kW.
The cabin is centered around a 10.1-inch touchscreen (7-inch on entry-level models) featuring Google Built-in for intuitive navigation and voice control. Key interior highlights include:
- e-Pedal: A system that enables true one-pedal driving, allowing the car to come to a full stop using only the accelerator for energy recuperation.
- Sustainability: Higher trims use animal-free materials and "Zen-garden" inspired fabric designs.
- Practicality: The boot offers 326 to 330 liters of space, which is competitive for the small car class.
- Safety: Standard equipment includes Nissan ProPilot assist, offering lane-keeping assistance and adaptive cruise control.
The Micra is described as having a "go-kart feeling" that is fun and agile in the city while remaining stable and "grown-up" on the motorway. From a financial perspective, the 2026 Micra aims to be accessible with a starting price around £22,995 (€25,000 - €29,000). The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is significantly lower than previous petrol models, with estimated fuel savings of over €1,100 per year and a 60-70% reduction in maintenance costs due to fewer moving parts.
