Faith and Sacraments: Why Symbols Matter (Part Four)

Our modern world sees symbols with skepticism because it only values what can be empirically demonstrated. However, symbols are a key part of any culture, including Catholicism, because they communicate truth. Today, I summarize the significance of the document we’ve been reading in our series on faith and the sacraments. I explain how the sacraments are outward symbols that communicate the inward grace and power of God, and why we are called to preserve the symbols of our faith rather than manipulate them.

Snippet from the Show

"The Church is the living body of Christ that communicates the dying the rising of our Lord through the power of the Holy Spirit. Its sacraments are outward symbols that communicate the inward power and grace of God."
