Linder | Photo-Montage: Are Punk Cyber-Goddesses Living with Trauma at Hayward Gallery?

1 tim 8 min21 mars 2025

How does the typically male transgression of Punk enter into female / feminist art? OG host, is back, art enthusiast Emily Harding, to discuss Linder, a punk female photo-montage contemporary artist with our host, art curator Joana P. R. Neves. Did Linder take on the Punk philosophy or did it change with time? And a feminist question arising in this feminist artist and survivor's work: is art a form of therapy? And what relationship does this entail with the other side of it: the spectator? This was such a strong exhibition that Joana was compelled to pursue her investigations on Linder and female agency here

Does art live comfortably in the spotlight or in the margins? That is one of the questions that comes up in "Danger Came Smiling" at Hayward Gallery, the survey exhibition of overlooked female radical Linder, a British Contemporary Artist who re-invents collage, or, rather, photo-montage, as she prefers to call it.

Created & Hosted by Dr. Joana P. R. Neves, art curator and writer with over 20 years of experience in the contemporary art field. Artistic director of Drawing Now Paris since 2018, she has worked across the industry, from the art market to education. She co-launched the art residency and project space Worldingin 2020. Exhibitionistas’ first year offered exhibition discussions with guest co-host Emily Harding; organically, it grew into a more experimental show exploring art topics, stories and interviews complemented by Joana’s publication Art Thinkosaurus on Substack. She champions ‘Art Wonderment’s’ embrace of complexity against the lure of ready-made opinions. A polyglot, she grew up in Lisbon, studied and lived in Paris, to finally settle in London with her artist husband, four children and two cats.
