Exhibitionistas: Notes on Contemporary Art and Life

Ana Maria Caballero - Alexandra Jabre | Visual Artist Studio Secrets: Blockchain Poetry and Spirituality in Contemporary Art

43 min9 januari 2026

What if a visual artist’s favourite tool revealed their creative process and philosophies? Even to themselves? This dual artist series inquires about contemporary artists’ studio practices. What are really artists working with today? What materials do they cherish? What other disciplines are they looking at? Cuban artist Ana María Caballero and British-Lebanese artist Alexandra Jabre answer these questions and reveal what is behind their artworks.

Our two guests also discuss what it takes to embark on a creative life, what it takes to create poetry, sculpture, and more. What sacrifices do you make, what path do you take, and what kind of healing does art bring?

My Art Tools is a segment associating two art talks where an established visual artist opens their tool box: what is their fetish instrument? An artist life can get as technical as it can be spiritual. In fact, they may be related... But most of all, a visual artist's hand guides you through the passion of following one’s vision, the pleasures of trusting an instinct, and the resilience it takes to work creatively. After all, creative processes are everywhere, for the visual artist as for any problem-solving situation, with an added philosophical twist.

Created & Hosted by Dr. Joana P. R. Neves, art curator and writer with over 20 years of experience in the contemporary art field. Artistic director of Drawing Now Paris since 2018, she has worked across the industry, from the art market to education. She co-launched the art residency and project space Worldingin 2020. Exhibitionistas’ first year offered exhibition discussions with guest co-host Emily Harding; organically, it grew into a more experimental show exploring art topics, stories and interviews complemented by Joana’s publication Art Thinkosaurus on Substack. She champions ‘Art Wonderment’s’ embrace of complexity against the lure of ready-made opinions. A polyglot, she grew up in Lisbon, studied and lived in Paris, to finally settle in London with her artist husband, four children and two cats.
