LtCol David Armstrong is on the podcast with us this week. David is a former Marine artillery officer whose career took many interesting turns over the years.
Armstrong was at Ft. Sill during planning for the Gulf War and missed out on deploying because of how quick the war ended. He eventually got what he asked for and was sent to Somalia as an attachment from 11th Marines and was able to conduct fire missions and control air assets during multiple engagements.
Armstrong also served with 1st ANGLICO and goes into details about his time with the unit and some of the different professionals he worked with. We also discuss different ANGLICO missions, jump training and moving the unit from Del Mar to its current location in the Las Flores area aboard Camp Pendleton.
Finally, Armstrong covers the Marine Heritage Foundation and the different projects they are funding for the Marine Corps Museum. He discusses individual exhibits and some future plans for the museum.
