In this special episode of Fotofolket, I sit down with award-winning war photographer Eddy van Wessel in his home. For almost thirty years, Eddy has documented conflicts around the world, capturing the lives of people living in the shadow of war, unrest, and uncertainty. In recent years, he has returned time and again to Ukraine, a country he has followed closely during the ongoing invasion. The result is the upcoming book Ukraine – a personal and visual testimony from the heart of war.
In our conversation, we talk about how his journey as a photographer began, what drives him to enter conflict zones, and how he prepares both mentally and practically for work in dangerous areas. This is an episode about witnessing what we might otherwise never see – through the lens of a man who has devoted his life to documenting the unimaginable.
