Lauren Spierer: She Was Almost Home, Then Vanished

In the early morning hours of June 3, 2011, 20-year-old Indiana University student Lauren Spierer was reportedly seen leaving a friend’s apartment in Bloomington, Indiana. Her own apartment was only a short walk away.
She never made it home.
Lauren’s disappearance triggered a massive investigation involving hundreds of volunteers, surveillance footage, thousands of tips, the FBI, a landfill search and eventually a civil lawsuit filed by her parents. But the final portion of Lauren’s known night remains frustratingly difficult to reconstruct, and more than fifteen years later, no one has been charged in connection with her disappearance.
