I had a conversation with Alexander Mercouris and George Beebe, a former CIA Director for Russia Analysis and current Director of Grand Strategy at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft. The clash in the Oval Office occurred as Trump and Vance were determined to start negotiations, while Zelensky was seen to be extremely dismissive. The Europeans do not have any alternatives to Trump’s peace plan, only an effort to do more of the same and escalate as the war is lost.
