Houska Castle in the Czech Republic is rumored to be built over a pit straight to hell...and to have been built specifically to cover it up. Rather than a castle with protections to keep others out, it's built to keep something IN.

But it may not have done the best job! On top of black-winged creatures and humanoids emerging from the pit, it's got some pretty brutal Google reviews. Can't win 'em all.
