Does God Still Do Miracles Today? (John 6:1-15) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study

Today in Bible Study 101 we mark the supernatural in John 6:1-15 in blue, the things only God could do. The blue clusters around Jesus, while the disciples' honest math stays completely white. I also share the day 1,800 children showed up in Malawi and there was enough for every one, because God does not change.

"This He was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do." (John 6:6)

Questions this episode answers

Does God still do miracles today?

Yes. Scripture shows God working in signs and wonders, and the Bible also teaches that God does not change. It does not line up to read about His power and then assume none of it applies to us now.

Why does John call Jesus' miracles signs?

A sign points beyond itself. John uses that word on purpose so we ask what each event reveals about who Jesus is. The feeding of the 5,000 was never mainly about lunch.

How do I know if something in Scripture is supernatural?

Ask one question: could a person have done this on their own? If not, it is supernatural. That includes healing and miracles, but also God speaking, sins being forgiven, and Jesus knowing what no one could know.
