Can You Still Visit the Places in the New Testament? The Hidden Room Under Rome
Om avsnittet
Most of us read the New Testament as if the places in it are gone for good. But many of them are still standing, especially in Rome, and you can walk into them.
Three floors under a church in Rome there's a small room with a dirt floor that almost no one visits. Church and oral tradition connect it to the house of Luke, where Paul stayed during his two years of house arrest and where many believe the book of Acts was finished. There's no deed or hard proof. But I've watched the Holy Spirit move in that room again and again, with healing, calling, and people hearing clearly from the Lord. The first time I crossed the threshold, I heard Him say, This is the reason for all of it.
"And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered." (Acts 28:30-31)
Where was the book of Acts written?
Many scholars believe Luke finished Acts in Rome during Paul's house arrest, which is why the book ends there so suddenly.
Can you still visit places from the New Testament?
Yes. Many sites tied to Paul, Peter, and the early church are still standing in Rome.
This room is part of our Rome trip every November, and it's often the place that changes people most. Standing where Acts was likely finished moves Scripture out of Sunday and into your everyday life.
