Psalm 42 is not a picture of quiet contentment. It is the cry of someone in a dry, desperate season who feels forgotten and tells God so. It gives us permission to bring our honest emotions into our time with Him.

Is there a right time of day to read the Bible?

No verse requires a certain hour. Scripture shows people meeting God in the morning, at night, and in the middle of the day. What matters most is choosing a consistent time you will actually keep.

Is it okay if I don't want to read my Bible?

Yes, and it is better to tell God the truth than to pretend. He already knows how you feel. Saying, God, I'm here out of obedience but I don't want to be, is honesty He can work with.
