Why Should We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem? (Psalm 122) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Om avsnittet
Jerusalem was the holy place in the Old Testament where God revealed Himself to His people. Today we study Psalm 122 and talk about how, because of the Holy Spirit, God's presence is no longer tied to one location. That truth shapes how we pray for leaders in Jerusalem and in our own countries.
"For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, "May peace be within you." (Psalm 122:8)
Questions this episode answers
What does it mean to pray for the peace of Jerusalem?
Psalm 122:6 calls God's people to pray for Jerusalem's peace because it was the place of God's house and His people. Christians still pray for peace there today. It also reminds us to care about God's people wherever they are.
Is God's presence limited to one place?
No. In the Old Testament, the temple in Jerusalem was the center of worship. Now the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, and the church is called God's temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).
Should Christians pray for government leaders?
Yes. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 urges prayers for kings and all who are in authority so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives. Praying for leaders is an act of love and obedience.
