How Do We Bring Hard Emotions to God After Trauma? (Psalm 129) | Daily Devotional & Bible Study
Om avsnittet
Today we look at Psalm 129 and the mix of emotions Israel felt after living through community trauma. Their humanity is not that different from ours, and I am thankful God gave us this example in Scripture. I pray this Psalm reminds you that God wants you to bring Him everything, even the hard things.
"The LORD is righteous; He has cut in two the cords of the wicked." (Psalm 129:4)
Questions this episode answers
What is Psalm 129 about?
Psalm 129 remembers how Israel was afflicted again and again from its youth, yet its enemies never won. It praises God as righteous for cutting the cords of the wicked. It also honestly asks God to deal with those who hate Zion.
Is it okay to bring anger or hurt to God in prayer?
Yes. The Psalms are full of honest emotion, including grief and anger over injustice. God invites us to pour out our hearts to Him, and that is far better than hiding what we feel.
How does God help us heal from shared trauma?
Psalm 129 shows God's people remembering both their pain and His faithfulness. Naming what happened, trusting God's justice, and recalling how He has carried us all help us heal. He is righteous, and He does not abandon His people.
